Permanent spousal support is largely based on the income and tax obligations of both spouses, as well as factors such as:
- The marital standard of living
- The age of the spouses
- The duration of the marriage
- The roles of each spouse in the marriage
- Contributions to a spouse’s education and training
- The supporting spouse’s ability to pay
- The employability of the recipient spouse
